Spring has arrived and the pinecone harvest is underway.  Ponderosa Pines are some of the earliest cones to hit the ground.  As the snow recedes and the spent cones fall,  we are there to gather them up.  A typical bag of Pondos will average 450 pieces and with approximately 480 bags per trailer,  that amounts to about 216,000 pine cones on a single load.

The Jeffrey Pines have considerably larger cones.  We use the same harvest bag that is used for Pondos.  The Jeffs average about 120 pieces per bag.  These bags do not pack quite as evenly as the smaller cones so we may get only 450-460- bags on a full trailer which will be about 54,000 cones per load.
